On July 4th, WANG Ning, President of the NCPA, met with Matías Tarnopolsky, President and CEO of the New York Philharmonic. The two sides held in-depth discussions on expanding cooperation between their respective institutions.
President WANG remarked that the New York Philharmonic, as a world-class orchestra with an esteemed international reputation, has a longstanding tradition of cooperation with the NCPA. In addition to collaborating with the New York Philharmonic, the NCPA also maintains a friendly relationship with its music director-designate Dudamel and members. The NCPA extends a warm invitation for the New York Philharmonic and its members to return to the NCPA, to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and the United States through music. At the same time, the NCPA expects that President Matías Tarnopolsky will get deeply involved in inter-institutional exchanges and cooperation under the framework of the World Association for Performing Arts (WAPA), to strongly boost the expansion of the WAPA. It is hoped that both sides would work together to bolster the innovation, prosperity and development of the world’s performing arts.
Matías Tarnopolsky spoke highly of the NCPA’s achievements and its contribution to promoting international cultural exchanges. He expressed the New York Philharmonic’s eager anticipation of returning to the NCPA stage to present outstanding performances for Chinese audiences. He also hopes to take art as a bridge to jointly write a new chapter in U.S.-China cultural exchanges. Looking ahead, Matías Tarnopolsky expressed his willingness to broaden their all-round and diversified co-operation with the NCPA, including arts education, and establish a regular exchange mechanism that could help to deepen the friendship between the two sides, so as to further promote art exchanges.
